Michal is a molecular biologist specializing in genome stability and DNA repair mechanisms, a graduate of the University of Warsaw. He received his PhD from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2002. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the Karolinska Nobel Institute in Stockholm, Michal led a research group at the Medical Research Council (MRC)/University of Cambridge in the UK. Between 2019-2020 Michal worked the industry. Since 2020, after returning to Poland, Michal had been running the Laboratory of Genome Dynamics, from 2021 he was appointed the Director of the Life Sciences and Biotechnology Center and in 2022 the Director of BBMRI.pl national biobanking node at Ɓukasiewicz-PORT.
