Vesna Marković

Vesna Gabelica Marković completed her PhD study at University of Zagreb, Croatia, in the field of chemistry. More than 3 years she performed postdoctoral researches in Canada and Italy. Then, she moved to industry where she spent 20 year working for different pharmaceutical and biotech companies holding several various management positions. She went through numerous leadership and management trainings. During that time, she was responsible for support of drug discovery and development process, management and leadership of departments, scientific and business strategy and she proved ability to lead interdisciplinary, international and multicentric teams. Since 2010, she is adjunct assistant professor at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka. Five years ago, she moved to the University of Zagreb (UNIZG), where she led project management. A new challenge, year ago she joined the Center for Research, Development and Technology Transfer and took a lead of EIT Health project activities. The Center for Research, Development and Technology Transfer team supports UNIZG research groups in research and innovation projects preparation and implementation, partnering with industry, research commercialization and business creation. It possesses a deep understanding of the University research and innovation capacity and the wider innovation ecosystem built through continuous innovation projects and collaborations since its establishment. Most recently it has been supporting innovators through its role EIT Health Hub (since 2018) and actively involved in activities of EIT Manufacturing Hub.
