Dr. Aiden Flanagan

Dr. Aiden Flanagan is a Senior Research & Development Fellow at Boston Scientific Corporation and is based in Galway.  He works for the Global Technology Partnerships group where he leads exploratory development teams using the Biodesign approach to create new growth products for Boston Scientific. He has extensive experience innovating and developing technologies for the design and manufacture of medical devices including mechanical, optical, and electronic technologies. He has developed and fostered collaborative relationships with Universities and external companies and manages several EU funded consortium projects for BSC including AMCARE, DRIVE, InSilc, Bioimplant, BRAV3, UWIPOM2 and DELIVER.  Aiden also manages collaborative relationships with NUI Galway through the Bioinnovate program and the CURAM centre for medical devices and has hosted several academics on-site in BSC in Galway through the Science Foundation Ireland Industrial Fellowship’s. Aiden currently has 61 granted US patents. He is also a Director on the board of EIThealth UK & Ireland and is a jury member for Medtech Innovator, EITHealth Headstart, and EITHealth Catapult Aiden obtained a BSc in Experimental Physics & Mathematics from NUI Maynooth, MSc in Optoelectronics from Queens University  Belfast and PhD in Experimental Physics from NUI Galway
