Spanish Society Of Biomedical Engineering (SEIB)

It was formed in 1981 with the name Asociación Española de Bioingeniería (A.E.B., Spanish Society for Bioengineering), and the name was later changed in 1995 by the current SEIB, following the international trends.

Since its creation, society has had six presidents (G. Ferraté, F. Fernández, J.L. Monteagudo, J.M. Ferrero L. Roa, and R. Jané).  Its main objective is to promote and foster contact amongst companies, professionals, researchers, and students working in any field in Biomedical Engineering. Nowadays SEIB has members of Spanish research groups in Bioelectronics, Physiological System Modelization, Telemedicine, Biomechanics, Biosignal Processing, Bioinformatics,…, besides other members from Health institutions and companies.

The main public activity of SEIB is the organization of an annual congress (CASEIB) that presents scientific papers in order to disseminate into research groups, students, companies, and institutions the latest works and advances of Spanish researches that year. Together with this Conference, the Main Meeting of the Society and the Conference of the Thematic Network on Biomedical Engineering (REDINBIO) are held, as a meeting point of the researchers belonging to this network.

EIT Health Spain

EIT Health is a vast, vibrant community of world leading health innovators backed by the European Union.Working across borders, we bring together the brightest minds from the worlds of business,  research, education and healthcare delivery to answer the biggest
health challenges Europe faces.

Our ambition is to enable people in Europe to live longer, healthier lives by building and growing businesses to create products and services that progress healthcare in Europe, while strengthening our economy.

Our vast community, including approximately 150 world-class partner organisations, works across borders to bring together the three worlds of business, research and education. We believe the best innovation happens when these three worlds meet. That’s why we call this the 'knowledge triangle’ – it's where life-changing innovation happens. We exist to provide an ecosystem in which this fresh thinking can thrive.

EIT Health has pan-EU representation via our headquarters in Munich and six regional innovation hubs, which operate as strong innovation clusters to drive our thriving ecosystem. The InnoStars cluster brings together organisations from more progressive regions where the overall pace of innovation is more moderate. EIT Health has expanded the community’s presence with a Regional Innovation Scheme, and created EIT Health Hubs in the United States and Israel, which connect innovators across Europe to other key thriving ecosystems beyond the EU.
