The EIT Health  Matchmaking 2022 event took place in Barcelona on the 26 & 27 of April. Working together with EIT Health Partners, the EIT Health Matchmaking series are key events within the EIT Health calendar. At these strategic Partners' events, EIT Health supports meaningful community networking and aims to accelerate projects between their partners by giving them a space for pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings to establish new and fruitful collaborations.

Inspiring Session: Fast track for Digital medical device validation and reimbursement in Europe

A strategic initiative aimed at facilitating a new way to regulate market access and reimbursement for digital health applications (apps). Digital health apps are considered one cornerstone of the wider digitalization of health and are likely going to play a significant role in healthcare. In practical terms, it aims to ease the path for innovative apps into regular care and thus statutory reimbursement in different European countries, ideally by the creation of a common regulatory framework for digital transformation.​

Inspiring Session: Europe Re - Industrialisation

A strategic initiative aimed at addressing the dual imperative of (i) equipping Europe with a strong, innovative and export-friendly healthcare industry that is able to meet the challenges posed by the future of medical care. Secondly (ii) sharing the same strategic vision for developing lasting and innovative European manufacturing capabilities with regard to critical products, notably pharmaceuticals.

Inspiring Session: Data for public health, treatment, research, and innovation in Europe

A strategic initiative aimed at promoting better exchange and access to different types of health data (electronic health records, genomics data, data from patient registries etc.), not only to support healthcare delivery (so-called primary use of data) but also for health research and health policy making purposes (so-called secondary use of data). All to be built on transparent foundations that fully protect citizens’ data and reinforce the portability of their health data, as stated in article 20 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Inspiring Session: High Value Care

A strategic initiative aimed at transforming healthcare systems by supporting all stakeholders involved in healthcare delivery to transform care towards outcomes that have the highest impact and are of most importance to patients. In practical terms, for this to occur, we need to set standards for measuring the right outcomes and incentivizing the health care industry to pay for outcomes rather than services.
